Checking your Fork Truck for Safety
Similar to any industrial equipment, the fork truck must be operated carefully. However, not like an automobile, steering is done on the back wheel giving the equipment a different center of balance. Anyone working within the vicinity of a fork truck and anyone using this machinery must know workplace safety guidelines and safe operating measures.
Safe operation of a fork truck initially involves inspecting the truck before driving it. Operators should check for potential dangers such as worn tires and fuel leaks. The lifts, forks as well as the overhead guard must be inspected thoroughly. The safety handle must be used only when the forklift is being mounted.
The alarms, lights and horns must be tested to ensure that they are operating well. Gauges and monitors should be adjusted correctly. The seat must be adjusted and safety belt fastened before starting the truck.
To avoid tipping the machinery, take turns cautiously and always choose the low rate speed when driving. If the load blocks the operator's vision, the truck should be driven in reverse gear. Be aware of the location of any pedestrians and obstacles when driving.

Due to the insulated mounting to the chassis, vibration levels and overall noise levels are kept low. The hydraulic controls and the operators' seat are all individually adjustable in order to maintain an optimum working position. Moreover, the steering wheel and related panel is adjustable for utmost comfort. There are 2 easy to operate, multi-functioned ergonomically positioned levers that are offered for gear changing, windscreen wipers, the horn and window washers.
A ventilation/heating unit ensure a comfy cab temperature for the operator. The incoming air is replaced by an air filter. This is easily replaceable and the unit slides out afterwards to make serviceability an easy option. The machinery has a robust 3-speed fan for defrosting, recirculation, heating and cooling. As an extra option, air conditioning could be fitted.
Instrumentation
The instrument panel in the spirit delta cab has been logically grouped and are all within easy reach. The standard instruments that comprise: low engine and gearbox lubrication oil pressure, warning lamps, high coolant temperature, low brake pressure, high gearbox oil temperature and applied parking brake. Additionally, gauges display values for fuel quantity, operating time, gearbox oil pressure and engine coolant.
One of the main options the 8 to 10 tonne trucks could be outfitted with is the ECS or Electronic Control System monitoring. This allows for easy supervision of the unit. All of the monitoring functions are handled by the ECS or Electronic Control System and incorporated by this system. The single warning lamp and the full text display show any faults which occur and their current values.
