Gresham is a city within the state of Oregon. The 4th biggest city within Oregon State with over 105,000 inhabitants and is located east of Portland within Multnomah County.

Initially, the community was referred to as the Campground, a place where pioneers can camp for the night and rest before heading to the Willamette Valley and Portland. The community could not be recognized as a city until it constructed a post office and postal code. A local business man offered his store as a post office and suggested naming the city after an American Civil War General, Postmaster General Walter Quinton Gresham. In the year 1884, the post office was established, and during the year 1905 Gresham was incorporated as a city with its first mayor, Lewis Shattuck.

Gresham people believe that art is an essential and inspiring part of whichever successful community. The city has attracted lots of artists and grown a vibrant local arts scene. A focal point of cultural activity is City Hall, with regular public art exhibitions. The artists of the city are supported by the local government by acquiring art from local artists and providing gallery space.

The Gresham Art Walk, held each and every year within the city, features practically 100 artists from all around southwest Washington and Oregon. The guests come from all around to enjoy the live music while being able to meet a lot of the artists. They likewise come to browse the locally produced pottery, paintings, photography, beadwork, textiles and glass work. Gresham's downtown has several one-of-a-kind farmers markets and boutiques. Shoppers have access to 50 nationally recognized shops and restaurants at Gresham Station.

There are several outdoor activities to enjoy, including the scenic Columbia River Gorge and Mt. Hood National Forest. The Columbia Gorge National Scenic Area was formed during the Missoula floods approximately 13,000 to 15,000 years ago forming a 130 km passageway. Outdoor fanatics can enjoy the following activities at the Gorge: swimming, camping, hiking, fishing, birding, wildlife viewing, boating, photography, picnicking, rock climbing, mountain biking and windsurfing.
